Threat Awareness Workshop (July 16-17, 2016) 1

Threat Awareness Workshop

EVENT CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION!

The term “situational awareness” has been misused and misapplied by Instructors in the firearms and martial arts industry for decades now. It is typically followed with catchy phrases like, “Keep your head on a swivel” but those courses never really spend time breaking down what you should be doing. We sure spend a lot of time on the philosophy behind it but not a lot of time on the application of it.

This course is intended to change that by looking beyond the ambush and developing our skills to observe and recognize, Pre-Attack Indicators, identify Overt & Covert threat displays, and recognize violent crime as it is developing in front of you, etc. These are real skills we need that could help us to avoid conflict altogether.

The Threat Awareness Workshop is a two-day in-depth training class based on my experiences in the professional bodyguard world (Executive Protection and Dignitary Protection). The course is designed to help civilian’s evaluate their personal day-to-day risk levels and learn how to use that information to have a balanced response plan to threats. Students will learn to identify hostile surveillance and violent threats intent on harming them or their family.

In addition to classroom time, students will participate in a Field Training Exercise (FTX), which will send you through local towns in a real environment with a list of every day tasks they will need to accomplish. During the FTX you will be using your newly developed skills to interact with both real people as well as volunteer actors and instructors doing passive and hostile surveillance on you. Students will be evaluated based on their ability to spot threats, surveillance activities, and their measured plans for risk mitigation.

You’ll learn:

  • Contextual Training

  • Identifying & Analyzing Risk

  • Identifying & Mitigating Threats

  • Stages of Violent Attacks

  • Nature of Conflict

  • How we look to bad guys

  • Hunters Vs. Howlers

  • Threat Profiling

  • Beyond Pre-Attack Indicators
  • Recognizing Hostile Surveillance Activities
  • …and much more!
